PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Good afternoon families,

I am hoping you and your family enjoyed a relaxing holiday break. I would like to extend a warm welcome to Gina Nock who will be working in our school office on Mondays and Tuesdays. Gina has relocated from the mainland and is enjoying getting to know our school community. Mrs Sandra Becker will be in the office Thursdays and Fridays.

Last Friday our School Captains Brooke and Charlotte represented our school community and laid a beautiful wreath at the Evandale Anzac Commemoration Service. The girls also supported the service by handing wreaths to other community organisations to lay at the cenotaph. It was lovely to receive such positive feedback on the engagement of the school in community events and the professional manner in the way Brooke and Charlotte conducted themselves. Well done girls!

Next Tuesday the 6th of May Mrs Becker and Mrs Shelton have organised a Pizza/Cupcake Fundraiser Day to support our library update and extension of our book collection.  Pizza and Cupcake Day order forms went home earlier this week. Please return to the school office by THIS Friday the 2nd of May. We would like to thank Domino’s Kings Meadows for their kind donation of pizzas supporting this event and Mrs Becker and Mrs Shelton for their amazing co-ordination of the fundraiser.

You may have heard our choir sing at the assembly last term – they were amazing. Mrs. Emily Booth has kindly volunteered her time on Monday afternoons to work with a small group of students, helping them to perfect their melodies and enhance their vocal skills. We look forward to the possibilities that this collaboration may hold, and the growth and achievements our students will experience through singing. A big thankyou to Mrs Emily Booth for supporting us with this.

Next Friday the 9th of May, several of our students will participate as part of the Northern Midlands Team at the State Athletic Carnival at St Leonards. We congratulate Oliver R, Jack, Darci, Rivah, Cooper and Casey for their outstanding performance in the recent NMSSSA Athletics Carnival at the end of last term and for making the Northern Midlands team. Wishing you the best of luck!

Please let the School Association Community Champions if you can help with our Election Day fundraising on Saturday or the Mother’s Day stall next Thursday and Friday.

Our Community Champions will be holding a BBQ THIS Saturday – at the only polling booth in Evandale – situated at our school. Polling is from 8am until 6pm and would like as many helpers as possible.

There will be:

*Egg and bacon muffins (morning)

*Ham and cheese croissants

*Sausages and Hamburgers (lunchtime)

*Some sweet options

*And running a coffee machine.

Please let Amanda Smith know if you can help and spread the word with your family and community members – that delicious food options are for sale – by cash or card.  All money raised will support our library upgrade and extension of our book collection.

Next Thursday 8th (for Kinders) and Friday 9th of May (P-6 students) our Community Champions will be hosting a stall with items that can be purchased by students for Mother’s Day.

Term 2 is a very busy term and to keep you updated a Term 2 Parent Friendly Calendar is attached. Hardcopies are available from the school office.
