Good Afternoon Families,
Athletics Carnival
What a fantastic, beautiful autumn day we had for our Athletic Carnival yesterday! It was heartwarming to see so many parents, grandparents, and family members spectating and cheering along the running track. The day truly had a wonderful community feel, bringing everyone together in support of our students.
Thank you to Mr. Lynch for his organization of the day. Our gratitude also goes to our amazing recorders, Mrs. Shelton and Mrs. Becker, who kept track of all the results with great precision along with congratulation every student on their efforts. We also appreciated the help from Grade 10 students from Kings Meadows High School, it was especially great to see former Evandale students Ruby, Coby, and Alicia and it was lovely to see them giving back to their former school.
Thank you to the School Association Community Champions for supporting the day by providing delicious home-baked treats and cold drinks for purchase. Thank you, Naomi, Edwina, Aneika, Liana, Amanda, Ursula, Cherie, Sally, and our guest BBQ chef, Mr. Roberts (apologies if we have forgotten to thank someone). The feedback from everyone was overwhelmingly positive about holding the carnival on our school site. Special thanks to our groundsman, Mr. Andrew Exton, who prepared the yard for the event over the past few weeks.
An Evandale representative team has been selected to compete at the Northern Midlands School Sports Association Athletic Carnival on Friday, March 28th, at St Leonards. Mr. Moore will accompany the team on the day. He met with team members today to discuss the event and provide them with a letter containing detailed information about the day. This letter includes a permission slip that needs to be signed and returned to school as soon as possible. The program for the day is also included on the back of the letter. We are excited for our students to represent Evandale and wish them the best of luck in their upcoming competition.

NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing for our Year 3s and 5s has now been completed. Congratulations to our students who have approached the testing with such positivity. A special thank you to Mrs. Bella Mitchell, who has coordinated the testing process with great efficiency and care. Her efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly and that our students were well supported throughout the testing period.
Gumnuts
Our Launching into Learning Gumnuts group began last Monday, and it was wonderful to welcome back both returning and new families. We are excited to see our littlest learners join us in the Kinder classroom from 9:30-11am. Please help us spread the word – everyone is welcome!

Student Opportunities
A number of our Year 5-6 students will begin extended learning opportunities next week. We are excited to announce that we have a Year 6 Readers Cup Team. Each team member is required to read five books from a selected list and then be prepared to answer short questions about them. Additionally, they will work cooperatively to produce a creative response to one of the books, which they will present at the inter-school Readers Cup on Thursday, May 29th.
In addition, several Year 5-6 students will compete in the MAT Problem Solving Competition 2025 next Thursday. In this competition, students will have the opportunity to problem solve a series of maths questions of increasing difficulty. These questions are designed to elicit mathematical thinking and will require students to apply their mathematical skills in innovative ways.
We wish our students the best of luck as they make the most of these opportunities. Their participation in these events not only enhances their learning but also fosters important skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity. Let's cheer them on as they take on these exciting challenges!
