Good Afternoon Families,
What a fantastic first assembly for 2025 on Monday afternoon!
Congratulations to our Year 5/6 class, and especially to our amazing comperes Isaac, Merren, Owen, and Roberta.
It was an honour to present the Student Leadership Council 2025 members to the school community and award their badges. Our leaders will have the opportunity to add to their leadership skills by attending the GRIP Leadership Conference at the Tailrace on Thursday, March 13th. There, they’ll engage and collaborate with leadership council members from schools across Launceston.
It was great to see teachers recognising a number of students who have shown our values of Respect and Connection in classrooms. Two Aussie of the Month awards for January and February were presented - please see pics below!
BREAKFAST CLUB
Our Breakfast Club runs each morning from 8:30-9 and all students are welcome to attend. Please let us know if you know of a community member that might be interested in helping us out with this service. We currently offer toast and at the moment students are enjoying some of the fruit from our orchard.
Open Classrooms 2:30-3:00 followed by our Welcome Back BBQ next Monday the 24th of February
Parents and families are warmly invited to an 'Open Classroom' event next Monday. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see what students have been engaging with and students are looking forward to sharing writing and maths work samples. Classrooms will be open from 2:30-3:00.
Following the classroom visit, the Student Leadership Council and the School Association will host a “Welcome Back BBQ” in the primary playground. Enjoy a free sausage and connect with others in the school community. If you're able to help with the BBQ, please contact the office.
We take everyone’s safety seriously
Thank you to students and families who have used the gabled entrance, to enter the school safely each morning. We are encouraging parents to meet and collect their child at the end of each day in the ECE playground and leave via the gabled entry. Signs erected in the laneway beside the staff carpark request pedestrians do not enter the laneway during school hours, in order to keep everyone safe.
Bravehearts - Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show next Thursday
Next Thursday the 27th of February ‘Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show’ will be visiting Evandale Primary School. All Prep to Year 3 students will attend the show that teaches young children essential personal safety skills and knowledge through music and relatable characters. The program is presented by a trained Educational Facilitator. Parents have been sent a parent information guide via schoolzine but please call the school office if you have any further questions or do not wish for your child to attend.
School Association - AGM
Nominations will be open for our 2025 School Association soon. Might you be interested in supporting your child’s school community? Everyone is welcome. We are particularly seeking some enthusiastic community (non-parent and non-staff) members in 2025, so please share with anyone you think would support our school with this.
If you would like more information, please register for this TASSO information session that was shared on our Facebook page yesterday or chat to any of our current members or the Returning Officer – Mrs Naomi Shelton (who also organises nominations and attends our AGM to call for roles in our School Association). Nomination forms will be available from the school office.
Lions Eye Health Program
The Lions Eye Health Program will visit Evandale Primary School on the 4th of March. Students in Years 2,4 and 6 will have brought home information about the Lions Eye Health Program and a permission form will need to be signed and returned to the school office as soon as possible.

SLC (Student Leadership Council) Report
Welcome to our new school year! The SLC members sell kiss biscuits (Tuesday) and icy poles (Monday) to raise funds to assist in purchases for our students! There have been some changes this year, for example; Icy pole Monday has replaced Milkshake Monday. So far it has been a great success, raising $102 for the past two Mondays.
You will notice that there are some new faces around Evandale and we are so excited to have them at our school!
We are organising the Welcome Back BBQ with the School Association for next Monday after school. The SLC will be there selling drinks and some sausages cooked on the barbie!
Thank you - Brooke & Charlotte - School Captains
