Good afternoon families,
Swimming Carnival
It was a pleasure to be part of the Year 3-6 Swim Carnival held yesterday at the Hagley Farm School Pool. I was incredibly impressed by our students' enthusiasm and sportsmanship, as they gave their best and showed support for their sporting house, Barclay and Logan. Many students participated in every single event on our program, and we are immensely proud of their willingness to challenge themselves and show perseverance.
One of the highlights of the day for me was seeing students cheering each other on, no matter the race or result. The encouragement and support they showed one another truly embodied the spirit of teamwork, connection, and community at Evandale.
It was also fantastic to see so many parents and family members on the sidelines, creating a ripple of support that lifted the students' spirits throughout the day. A big thank you to Mr. Cameron Lynch for his exceptional organisation and for ensuring everything flowed smoothly, making the carnival a splash hit for all involved. Congratulations to the winning house – Logan!
Planning for 2025
As we finalise planning for the 2025 school year, we are carefully considering our class structure and staffing. We value the strong partnership we have with our school community and recognise the significant role parents play in supporting their child's education. If you have any educational reasons that you believe will support us in this process, please send them via email to maree.duggan@decyp.tas.gov.au or through a personal letter left at the school office, by Wednesday the 20th of November.
We appreciate your ongoing collaboration as we work together to create the best possible learning environment for all our students.
Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnership:
We have enjoyed the most amazing week with our Indonesian teacher visitors - Miss Anisa and Mr Fuadi and immersing them in the way we do things at Evandale along with sharing Australian traditions and culture. A big thankyou to Rachel and Rob Riley, parents of Isaac, who has been hosting Mr Fuadi and Emily and Andrew Booth, mum of Mirabelle, Poppy and Tallulah, who has been hosting Miss Anisa. Mirabella said “I love having dinner with Miss Anisa each night and she has liked tasting our Australian food. She really like it when we made her homemade pizzas on the first night.” Poppy has enjoyed practising her Indonesian with Miss Anisa using the Duolingo app. Isaac’s family took both our visitors to the Tasmanian Wildlife Park at Mole Creek and they enjoyed patting a baby Tasmanian Devil and a wombat.
Thank you for making our ‘Sharing of Cultures Afternoon’ such a success and we hope you had an opportunity to meet and chat with Mr Fuadi and Miss Anisa and learn a little about Indonesian culture.

Grade 5 Leadership News
Our Year 5 students are beginning to think about their future roles and opportunities as school leaders in 2025. To support their development, we will host a Leadership Preparation Day on Thursday, November 28th (while the Year 6 students are on their celebration day out).
Students will participate in two YMCA led Leadership workshops, designed to enhance students' social and emotional skills as outlined in the Australian Curriculum with a focus on building confidence, collaboration, and a sense of connection with others—key qualities for future leaders. The first session will focus on identifying personal strengths and skills, exploring how these can be applied in different situations, and understanding the importance of continuous self-development. The second session will delve into how identity is shaped, and why it is essential to respect and appreciate both our own and others' individual, social, and cultural differences. The group will participate in the next four more modules together as part of their leadership opportunities early in 2025.
Students will enjoy a BBQ sausage lunch and an icy pole on the day and will have time to reflect on their leadership aspirations in the afternoon by considering the opportunities for roles and responsibilities through a leadership application. We will encourage them to share their ideas with you and return their application form by Monday the 2nd of December. Students will then share their ideas through a speech to our year 2 to 5 students the following week.
This day will provide a valuable opportunity for all our Year 5 students to explore and grow their leadership potential, and we look forward to supporting them in this exciting next step!

Refurbished iPads for sale
We are currently updating our fleet of devices for student use and have a number of refurbished Generation 6 iPads for sale. They will be completely wiped, IT checked and sold in “as is” condition for $150.00 each. Please note that they will not come with a charger but these are easy to come by if you don’t have some apple chargers at home already. These iPads have absolutely nothing wrong with them, they are just over 5 years old now and DECYP has a policy that learners will have access to devices that are current and no more than 5 years old.
We are unable to hold devices and would prefer you come in person to the office to pay for and collect the iPads rather than sending them home with students. Payments can be made by eftpos or cash. At this time it looks like we have around 14 devices to sell.
SUNFLOWER ART WORK
In Grade 1/2 we have been following step by step instructions to complete some pencil drawings. Look at the beautiful sunflowers that Noah, Thomas, Lincoln, Juliet and Ella have created!
As the students did such an outstanding job on collecting plastic bottles for our wasp control program, we'd like to give them the opportunity to do it again for term 4.
This time we're after containers that don't allow any light in - NO MORE BOTTLES
For example:
- Butter and margarine containers.
- large plastic yoghurt containers.
Diemen's Ridge will pay $1.00 per container.
The containers need to be rinsed, have lids and not be squashed.
