Salamat Siang – Good Afternoon!
BOTTLE/CONTAINER COLLECTION
As the students did such an outstanding job on collecting plastic bottles for our wasp control program, we'd like to give them the opportunity to do it again for term 4.
This time we're after containers that don't allow any light in - NO MORE BOTTLES
For example:
- Butter and margarine containers.
- large plastic yoghurt containers.
Diemen's Ridge will pay $1.00 per container.
The containers need to be rinsed, have lids and not be squashed.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
We expect, and most students are well presented and prepared for school including full school uniform, long hair tied up, appropriate footwear, and belonging such as a water bottle and lunchbox with healthy food choices. We do not condone the wearing of make-up. If you’re child wishes to wear make-up, please support us in keeping it for home or special occasions.
INFANT FUN DAY
Students in Prep – Year 2 have been invited to participate in Infant Fun Day on Thursday 21st November, 2024 at the Longford Football Ground. Students will engage in a tabloid style event with different activities and the opportunity to make new friendships with students from other participating schools. Students will travel on a bus leaving school just after 9:00am and returning at approximately 2:30pm. They will need to wear full school uniform and have a sun hat to participate in the day.
Parents are able to attend if they wish but will be asked to remain in the parent viewing area.
Longford’s school association will be running a sausage sizzle on the day. Sausages are available for $2 each and will need to be order prior to the 15th of November. Orders can be made at the front office or on the form that will be provided to P-2 students soon.
GARAGE SALE
We have a number of excess furniture items that we are looking to re-home. Please check out the Parent Notice board just up the corridor from the new DECYP value installation, for photos of items that we have for sale. Please see the office if you are interested in purchasing any of the items. (We are open to offers).
Kind regards,
Bella Mitchell

Refurbished iPads for sale
We are currently updating our fleet of devices for student use and have a number of refurbished Generation 6 iPads for sale. They will be completely wiped, IT checked and sold in “as is” condition for $150.00 each. Please note that they will not come with a charger but these are easy to come by if you don’t have some apple chargers at home already. These iPads have absolutely nothing wrong with them, they are just over 5 years old now and DECYP has a policy that learners will have access to devices that are current and no more than 5 years old.
We are unable to hold devices and would prefer you come in person to the office to pay for and collect the iPads rather than sending them home with students. Payments can be made by eftpos or cash. At this time it looks like we have around 14 devices to sell.
Swim Carnival Reminder
Our 3-6 Swim Carnival is at the Hagley Farm School Pool on Wednesday the 13th of November from 10-2pm. Parents of Grade 6 students please remember to return your Major Excursion paperwork, together with the aquatic activity permissions slip by COB Monday the 11th of November. Should you have any questions about our swimming carnival, please speak with your child’s teacher, the office staff or Mr Lynch.
On the 25/10 the Soccer Gala Day was held at Perth Primary School. Our coach was Ms Harlow, and I was the captain, Ryan was the captain. Our team consisted of 11 players from grades three to six. We had a great big bus to ourselves, and the trip was quick. There were four schools participating and they had more teams than us. We got to play five games across the day. At lunchtime we had sausages where we saw Mrs Smith and Mrs Mitchell cooking and the sausages were yummy. We played very well, and we showed a lot of good sportsmanship. We were fair to each other by rotating around and coming off and going on the field. We also lost two games and won three games. The team was very encouraging to other teams and celebrating when we scored goals. Unfortunately, there were a few injures. Players of the match were, Liam, Casey, Rosie, Seb, David, Maia, Reggie, Cooper, Isacc, Keanu and Ryan P (Captain). It was an excellent DAY!!!
