Good Afternoon Families,
Welcome back to Term 4 – we hope you and your family enjoyed a relaxing holiday break.
There has been so much happening in the holidays around the school – which is exciting!
- The new ECE playground opens TOMORROW!
- The front entrance has been revamped with electric doors upgrading our security.
- Department of Education, Children and Young People Value circles have been installed inside the school entrance and outside on the large wall near the Primary Play area entry gate. We now hold our 3-6 after-lunch lineup assemblies here.
- The front fence smashed in the recent wild weather has been repaired.
- And we have improved our internet connectivity with updated systems which will support student IT use.
Special thanks to our SBM Brooke Sims for expertly coordinating and managing all these big projects. It is a pleasure to be in such a beautiful learning environment each day.
ABORIGINAL FLAG
Tuesday, Reggie and Matilda accepted an Aboriginal flag on behalf of the school, by Lara who represented our Federal MP Brian Mitchell. This was initiated by Reggie who noticed when he visited Hagley Farm School during the Swimming and Water Safety Program that they fly an Aboriginal flag next to the Australian flag at the front of the school. Reggie talked with Mrs Glachan about this and then came to talk to me about how we can do this at Evandale Primary School. Together with a classmate Matilda, we wrote to Mr Brain Mitchell sharing this noticing and our wish for an Aboriginal flag to fly at the front of the school. Federal politicians can provide flags on request for organisations in their electorate and we thank Mr Brian Mitchell for his quick response. We are currently organising for another flagpole to be installed so that we can fly the Aboriginal flag alongside the Australian flag at the front of our school. This is a splendid example of student agency – Congratulations Reggie!
SAFETY
We are encouraging all students/families to enter and exit the school via the gabled roof entrance by the turning circle. Teachers will unlock exterior doors on the ECE playground side at 8:30am and remind students with devices to check them in at the office via the main hallway. The before school play area will be the ECE playground which offers everyone a turn on our new play equipment – the morning duty teacher will be located here.
Your child might mention we are having been talking about and practising Emergency drills. School documentation is being updated and communicated to students and staff so that we all know what to do in an Emergency to stay safe.
HATS
School hats are worn in Terms 1 and 4. Please ensure your child has a wide brimmed hat to wear each day. School hats are available at the school office for $10:00.
PRE-KINDER SESSIONS
We are very excited to welcome our pre-kinder students to special sessions each Monday running after our Launching Into Learning Gumnut sessions. If your child was born in 2020, they will start Kinder next year! Please let other families know that we are taking enrolments, and they can contact the school office for details.
Looking forward to a great Term 4!
