Dear families,
This week’s wild weather persisted, bringing a power outage on Monday that affected numerous Tasmanian businesses, homes and schools, including Evandale. We used Facebook and Schoolzine to keep families informed. We understand that for many families getting to school on Monday was not possible, however it was wonderful to see students who did come arriving prepared with warm clothes. Thankfully, the power was restored at Evandale just before midday.
We recognize that the stormy conditions have impacted many of our families’ homes, businesses and properties. We hope any clean-up or restoration is going smoothly. Thanks to our school cleaners Katrina and Wendy and our groundsman Andrew for their work in ensuring our classrooms and grounds remain safe, clean and ready for learning.
SWIMMING & WATER SAFETY PROGRAM
Our Swimming and Water Safety Program for students in 3-5 has started this week. Students are travelling to Hagley Primary Farm Swimming Pool. A big thank you to Mrs Glachan and Mr Moore for supporting our student with this important life skill.
STEPHANIE ALEXANDER KITCHEN GARDEN AWARDS
Yesterday we got a call from the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Awards letting us know we were runners up in the ‘Everyone’s Welcome’ category which highlights the celebration of togetherness, understanding, cultures and abilities through recipes, ingredients and gardens. Our achievement was recognised in the recent Learning Services newsletter along with Clarendon Vale Primary School as one of two of 27 national finalists (and the only Tasmanian school finalists) in the National Kitchen Garden Awards. Please keep an eye out as we begin the process of rejuvenating our garden spaces.
COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS
A big thankyou to our Evandale Primary Community Champions (previously P&F) who have been working very hard this week to cater for a local event. Thanks to all those who donated ingredients and to our wonderful cooks. The money raised will support our students and we appreciate the time, effort and logistics of making this happen.
ESAFETY
Families of students in Year 3-6 will be receiving a two page information sheet from the www.esafety.gov.au website. It outlines what you can do to be proactive with online safety and if needed, what to do if your child is experiencing cyberbullying or online drama including people being mean. A highly informative and practical webinar (12 minutes) can be found here Parent resources | eSafety Commissioner. Scroll down and find the video titled “Cyberbullying and Online Drama” to view the webinar. There are many helpful tips and resources on this website.

FAMILIES SATISFACTION SURVEY 2024 - Invitation
We hope you can find the time to fill in this 5 minute survey to let us know if there are ways we may improve!
The 2024 School Satisfaction Surveys are coming!
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Evandale Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.
The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/LKc8ljigJ5
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
