Good Afternoon Families,
Our new playground is OPEN!
We’re thrilled to announce that our new playground opened for play this week, and the excitement is truly contagious! So, what are our students saying about it? The flying fox, monkey bars, and our two slides are the standout favourites!
This playground is a shining example of a community working together to achieve a common goal. Thanks to the Chilli FM School of the Year $10,000, a generous donation from the school community through the School Association, additional financial support from a couple of local businesses, and money from the school resource package, this project has come to life.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to two local businesses, Tasmanian Freight Services and Contact Group, who responded to letters from our Grade 6 students with generous donations towards the playground installation. Aiden and Ryan were thrilled to receive replies to their letters.
Mark your calendars for our official opening celebration on Tuesday, November 26th, featuring special guests, including representatives from Chilli FM and our local community businesses. We will send out an invitation soon, and we can’t wait to celebrate this fantastic addition to our school!
Grade 6 Tops
You might have noticed our Grade 6 students proudly wearing their Leavers T-shirts this week! Last Friday, they were presented with their shirts and had the opportunity to share their personal goals for Term 4 with the 3-6 audience. The students played an active role in the design process, and they look fantastic in their new gear!
Gardening Update
Our plant propagation efforts in the hothouse have been incredibly successful! A huge thank you to Wendy, Harry, and our dedicated student helpers for propagating plants for our garden using donated seeds. We have currently planted the following vegies in the garden beds – corn, peas, lettuces, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. We also have zucchini, beetroot, tomatoes and pumpkin plants nearly ready to be transferred from the hothouse into our garden beds.
This week, we also welcomed Mr. Mark Jelinek, who has generously volunteered to support us in the orchard garden every Tuesday. We are truly grateful for your help and expertise!
You may have noticed some marigold and sunflower plants being planted around the school – they were grown by us from seed in the hothouse! We have a little while to wait until they flower!
Reminder re plans for 2025
We are well underway with planning classes and staffing for next year. Please let us know if your child is likely to be moving schools for next year if you have not already done so. We are certainly looking for new enrolments so if you have any friends who are looking for a great school, please do recommend our school as we have space to accept new enrolments in all grades, particularly families who live in our area.
Garage Sale
We have a number of excess furniture items that we are looking to re-home. Please check out the Parent Notice board just up the corridor from the new DECYP value installation, for photos of items that we have for sale. Please see the office if you are interested in purchasing any of the items.
Longford Show
Congratulations to all our students who submitted entries into the Longford Show. A number of students achieved prizes – congratulations to Mia, Aidan, Elka, Preston, Aidan and Matilda.
Keep an eye out for our new Book Library
A big thank you to the Men’s Shed at Longford for creating a new Little Book Library for our school. We are currently looking at how we will install the library for easy access by the community. Thanks to David Swan for initiating this for us.
Thank you to our Teachers
As we approach World Teacher’s Day tomorrow, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for our amazing teachers at Evandale Primary School.
Their dedication to educating, inspiring, and empowering our learners goes beyond the classroom. They help create a nurturing school community where each student feels valued and encouraged to be there best.
Thank you for believing in our students and for being such a positive influence in their lives. You make a difference every single day, and I’m so thankful to have you in our community!
In conclusion, I will be taking long service leave from Thursday the 31st of October until the 11th of November. Mrs Bella Mitchell will be Acting Principal during my absence, and I thank her for her ongoing commitment and support of our school.
1-2 Assembly next Monday
Next Monday our 1-2 class will be hosting assembly. Please join us to celebrate student learning and achievements.
NEXT FRIDAY
Just a reminder that NEXT Friday the 1st of November is a Student Free Day and Monday the 4th of November is a long weekend.
AUSTRALIA-INDONESIA BRIDGE SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnership:
We are excited to welcome our Indonesian teacher visitors really soon - Week 5. Blake completed an amazing Evandale Primary introduction video snippet about our school. We have sent this video to our Indonesian partners, and they loved it, and they are really looking forward to visiting our school community and getting to know how we learn at EPS. Their biggest fear is coping with the colder weather. Please find the video on our Facebook page soon and upcoming newsletter.
We have been organising where Miss Anisa and Mr Faudi will be staying whilst they are here. Big thanks to Mrs Rachel Riley, mum of Isaac in Year 5, who has offered to host Mr Faudi for five nights. Please let us know asap if you can host Miss Anisa for a night or more.
We are planning a big week to welcome and immerse Miss Anisa and Mr Fuadi in our whole school community. Our plans include a Welcome BBQ, EPS 3-6 Swimming Carnival, our school photos, a cultural day and time in each classroom. There will be more specific details coming soon.
Mr Faudi and Miss Anisa will be arriving at Launceston Airport at about 3:00pm on Sunday 10th November. Please let us know if you would like to be a welcome party at the airport!
