What a wet and windy week we are having at the moment. It was a shame that we had to postpone the welcome afternoon tea but looking forward to better weather supporting our new date scheduled on the same afternoon as our open classrooms - Wednesday the 25th of September.

FAMILIES SATISFACTION SURVEY 2024 - Invitation
The 2024 School Satisfaction Surveys are coming!
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Evandale Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.
The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/LKc8ljigJ5
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

Science Week Excursion - 3-4 Glachan
On Thursday, 16th August, we went to the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery for a day focussing on sustainability. We were fortunate to explore renewable energy and to design our own blue prints of new ways to make power. Other sessions included a visit to the Planetarium, where we talked about how life could be sustained on other planets and a visit to the amazing exhibiton of Olegas Truchanas who was an outstanding photographer who was passionate about the environment. Olegas definitely displayed the DECYP values of respect, responsibility, courage, growth and connection in all of his endeavours.
AUTHOR VISIT
On the 21st of August we had a guest author visiting our school for Book Week. Her name was Sharon Yaxley-Booth. Sharon showed us how her books were made, she showed us her sketch ideas, then she read to us "In Nan's Garden" and "Sea Monsters". My favourite was In Nan's Garden because it was about her own garden before houses were built around it. I liked the animals in Nan's Garden. She also had five books aout Dunstan the bear and Theodore the dog. She started writing books at 55 years of age. I really enjoyed having Sharon come to our school. Her books were amazing!

On the 21st of August, Evandale Primary had a suprise in store! We had an author, Sharon Yaxley-Booth visit our school. We all gathered in the flexi room and she started by showing us Dunstan the bear. the story behind Dunstan is too long to tell you, so i'll save it for you! Sharon also read us "In Nan's Garden" - it was about her garden. Then she read us "Sea Monsters" and told us about how her books were published. She also showed us the art work from her books. After that we asked some questions and gave her a present and card. We all loved it!
