Dear families,
We’re excited to share some updates about our garden beds, hothouse, and orchard. Our staff members Wendy and Nurse Kylie, have been actively engaging students in envisioning what they’d like to plant and nurture as we clean, weed, and prepare the garden beds for the upcoming season.
Matilda from Year 3-4 has created a stunning visual representation of what the garden looks like now and its potential transformation over the next few months, aptly titled “Everyone’s Welcome.” We’ve used her artwork to support our grant applications for Evandale’s garden project. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a positive outcome!
A big thank you to our Parents and Friends School Association committee members who came armed with secateurs for a working bee in the orchard on Monday morning.

Our grade 1-2 class enjoyed a pizza lunch today after being awarded the most ‘Value Olympic’ tokens. Thanks to Dominoes Kings Meadows for supporting us to recognise our students.
Bookweek
Next week is Book Week, and we have a fantastic lineup of events planned! We’re thrilled to welcome several guest readers and authors who will visit throughout the week to share their favourite stories with our students.
Don’t miss our Book Week Parade on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the GP Hall, where students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters. If you have the book that inspired the costume, bring it along.
Need help with a costume? Just ask at the office—we’re here to assist! All students who come dressed as a character will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win beautiful book prizes. We can’t wait to celebrate the magic of books with everyone at Evandale next week!
Kinder 2025
We are now accepting Kindergarten enrolments for 2025! If your child, or someone you know, was born in 2020 and resides within our school catchment area, we invite you to get in touch with the school office to discuss how they can become part of our vibrant school community.
Young Tassie Scientists Visit to Evandale
3/4 Glachan Report
On the 9th of August, 2024, Evandale Primary School students in grades 1-6 were fortunate to have an incursion with the Young Tassie Scientists. We visited three different scientists, they were all very different and interesting.
The first scientist that we visited was Joe Cresswell a Geophysicist from UTAS. He explained to us that he was researching climate change and the different layers deep in the ocean. He showed us how they use pipes to extract the rocks and sediment from deep down.
The second scientist was Reyhan Ramazanova who was a lawyer who was interested in Artificial Intelligence, Disability and Human Rights. She showed us how people with disabilities can benefit from designs such as the wheel chair and special computerised glasses.
The third and final scientist was Arjun Jothish Nair who worked for Public Health Engineering and the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. He was interested in robots. He had over 22 robots.
Overall, we enjoyed the visit from the Young Tassie Scientists and our favourite session was learning about the layers of the ocean.
