Dear families,
What an exciting week we have enjoyed with our ‘Value Olympics’. Many students have been recognised as they bring our values to life in their everyday actions. Our values support us to be a strong team. What does this look like at Evandale Primary School?
Let’s hear from our students:
Franklin from P/1 “I got a token for being respectful and listening to my friends talk, when we were eating our morning tea as a group”.
Layla from P/1 “I was showing courage by sounding out words that were really tricky”.
Juliet 1/2 “I showed respect by helping pack up the equipment I was using when I finished my job.”
Regan 1/2 “People can show courage by putting their hand up to share, even if they are feeling scared”.
Molly from 1/2 “I had a go and tried something I hadn’t done before. I showed courage.”
Rosie 3/4 “I showed growth by talking about how I solved my Maths problems”.
Ruby 3/4 “ I showed responsibility by making sure everyone is included and has a say in my reading group”.
David 5/6 “I showed respect by concentrating on my work and ignoring my friends when they were talking around me”.
Isaac 5/6 “I showed responsibility by listening to the teacher and following the instructions.”
Tyrrian 5/6 “I showed courage by having a go and doing my best.”

SOMETHING NEW THIS TERM
Mr Cameron Lynch will be taking students for Physical Education and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) for terms 3 and 4. The focus across the school if on Physical Sciences.
P/1students will explore Forces and create and explore various objects that can move in different ways. Students will learn to identify factors that influence movement and describe how objects move and how factors influence movement.
1/2 students will explore how pushes and pulls change the motion and shape of objects, describe pushes and pulls in terms of strength and direction, predict the effect of forces on motion and create various objects that can move in different ways and at different speeds.
3/4 students will use and expand on their knowledge of forces while creating various moving objects. They will identify forces acting on objects, identify how forces can be exerted and experiment with creating objects of different size, shape, weight and design to examine what impact this has on movement.
5/6 students will work to identify sources of light and model the transfer of light to explain observations. They will explore creating our own bioluminescent animals and explore how light travels, describe how shadows are formed and how light can be reflected and refracted.
Friday Sport
Evandale Vs Perth – Netball and Football – here at Evandale.
FOOTBALL - The Dakin Cup - The Dakin Family have been long time Evandale Primary School and Community members. The Dakin Cup began many years ago when Lachlan Dakin attended Evandale Primary School and his cousin, Aaron Dakin attended Perth Primary School. It was decided that students would play for the Dakin Cup when Perth/Evandale met during their Friday afternoon school sports. It continued when Bill (EPS) and Jared (PPS) attended the schools. Sadly there are no "Dakin" students here at present, but the Dakin Cup lives on!

Thank you
A big thank you to students and families for supporting our Book Fair. This is a fantastic fundraiser for the school and a great opportunity to purchase quality engaging books at great prices. We would like to thank Mrs Stanton and Mrs Becker for their organisation and support around this school fundraising initiative.
Don’t forget about our other School Association fundraising initiative - Have you purchased a wood raffle ticket? Do you have some family members who would like to buy a ticket? Got to be in it to win it!
A Couple of Reminders
Our first assembly for Term 3 is next Monday at 2pm with 3-4 Glachan hosting. We look forward to sharing the great work students have been doing over the first two weeks of term.
The Term 3 School Association Meeting was postponed this week and will now be next Wednesday the 7th of August at 3:15pm at Evandale Primary School. All welcome.
It is Prep to grade 6 students ‘Green and Gold’ Day TOMORROW. Watch out for our Evandale ‘Green and Gold’ team photo on Facebook tomorrow.
I look forward to continuing to make connections with all members of the Evandale School community.
Kinder learning update!
Wow, what a busy start to the term!
Our kinder friends were all so happy to be back and there was lots of laughter and excitement!
We are continuing our work on fine motor development through our daily 'finger gym' rotations. We are now introducing letter formation into our stations and working on the shapes and sizes of letters. We are working on some new letters and sounds and focusing on how letters make different sounds! We think letters are amazing, we can write them, read and find them in books and now we can hear and match the sounds!
We are learning about measurement through investigations on length. This has been an exciting introduction into making comparisons!
Our afternoons are an exciting time as we explore life cycles on butterflies! We will share our findings very soon!
We look forward to sharing more with you!

Royal Flying Doctor Service visit - Term 2
I think these pics show that students and staff thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the RFDS at the end of term 2.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
We are looking forward to getting our Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) program underway next term. Caity from JRFH is sending us out our program pack and a gift for each student; a Heart Hero key chain. Our skipping and fundraising program is designed to turn your students into Heart Heroes. Caity said that “When kids sign up for Jump Rope for Heart, they become Heart Heroes – everyday superheroes who are leading the way in the fight against heart disease"
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a personal challenge – not a competition. What’s your best reading tally? Can you beat it? Get ready to start reading and recording your books on 17th June!
If you figure out what you love to read, reading will be easier – so try reading different things – fiction, non-fiction – blogs, comics, poetry, lyrics, essays, magazines, newspapers… it all counts in the PRC.
This is a challenge for all Tasmanian students. It doesn’t matter what your reading level is, everyone can take part.
Reading is a skill we need for life. All the reading you do in this challenge will help you at school and at home.
